Our Philosophy
Welcome to Persist Fitness. Our group fitness programs consist of a blend of different training styles which aim to increase our client’s fitness and strength, with a specific focus on client centered training which offers a more effective and varied approach to all fitness levels.
Carefully developed, Persist Fitness follow a 16-week training structure, which is then broken down further into 4-week blocks. Our programming focuses mainly on strength, conditioning and endurance.
We structure our training into 4 separate blocks for our members so as they can build up their base level of fitness and strength and progress gradually and effectively, minimizing injury and overload on the body. As members progress through the training weeks, their body is prepared and ready, utilising progressive overload and thought out structured training for them to be able to level up and see their fitness and strength improve.
BLOCKS:
Base:
Our base phase is our introductory phase. 4 weeks to program our body through the movements, taking our time, going lighter with the weights but higher reps, longer duration workouts and very client focused. The workouts are designed to be completed however challenging or as easy as the individual wants to make it.
Strength:
Our strength phase is where we bring our reps down, increase our weights and watch our members challenge themselves in their compound lifts, but also in their accessory movements. Strength phase is designed to build our muscles and strength endurance. Expect to see progressive overload, carefully thought out sessions targeting the whole body with rewarding results.
Power:
Power is our chance to combine both the base and strength phases into complex movements. Here in our power phase, you will find the sessions are exactly that, those of which require power from the body to perform the movements correctly. EMOMs, short AMRAPs and more, this phase will test the body and leave you feeling energized and strong.
Peak:
Here in our peak phase, we put our 12 weeks of work to the test and challenge our members to their 3RM (3 rep max) in their main compound lifts that were chosen at the beginning of the block. These sessions are designed for our members to go out of their comfort zones, realize their confidence and strength with the support of other members and coaches. Think PBs, increased confidence and hard work paying off.
SESSIONS:
HIIT: High Intensity Interval Training
Our HIIT classes are exactly that. A variety of high intensity movements where we work towards different targets and timings. Utilizing functional movements, weighted exercises that are designed to specifically get the heart rate up, our HIIT sessions are a full body guaranteed sweat session.
Lift: Upper & Lower Split
Our lift sessions are strictly strength based broken into an upper and lower split. Each week there is one upper, and one lower session within the program. Lift sessions focus on hypertrophy training and targeting all muscles. There is always a mix of a compound lift, and accessory lifts that are there to support your main lift. These sessions are designed using progressive overload with the goal in mind to build strong bodies.
Sweat & Skills:
As the name suggests; in this class we build on our skills, and we finish it off with a sweat block. Every week there is one skill / lift chosen to focus on in a 12 – 15 minute block of work where the pace of the workout is a lot slower, the focus is purely on the lift and working towards building strength in that particular lift. These are swapped between our chosen 4 compound lifts. The second part of our sweat and skills session is a large sweat component. Expect to see AMRAP’s, EMOMs and movements that are guaranteed to get your heart rate up.
Conditioning:
Our conditioning sessions are run on Saturday’s, alternating with our Team’s sessions every other week. These sessions are where we slow the pace down, work through a full body workout, focusing on strength movements, with full body weighted conditioning movements in the mix. These sessions are always structured in AMRAP (As many rounds as possible) formats, giving our members the opportunity to go as hard as they want, or, as easy as they want. There is always a target for rounds to hit within the time cap, but our members can choose their level in these classes.
Teams
At Persist, our community is so important to us and boy do we have a good one! (If we may say so ourselves) Our Teams / Partner workouts are run once a fortnight, swapping with our conditioning sessions on Saturday’s, and are designed to be a fun workout with members, where they work towards a target goal together as a team. Expect high intensity, strength movements and a lot of fun.
